Kate Middleton Wears Diane Von Furstenberg in America

After a weeklong Canadian Tour, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has arrived on America soil with her husband, Prince William, for the first time. It is said that Kate has packed about 30 outfits for her tour of Canada. Sure, we have already seen most of these outfits, but I just wonder what she will wear during her days in America.

It turns out that Kate Middleton has made fantastic choices of her outfits. What she has worn in America has convinced me that she is talented in dressing.

On the first day in America Kate made some fabulous choices. She left Canada wearing a red dresscoat which was obviously adorned with the Queen’s maple leaf pin. Then, she showed up in Los Angeles wearing an elegant pale blue frock which has an eyeable zipper down the back as well as flattering draping. At the time when the couple attended the reception at the British Consul-General’s house, Kate wore a green dress by Diane Von Furstenberg. How wise Kate is! Diane Von Furstenberg is the leader of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which means that this dress can help Kate to quickly gain popularity among American people. The dress fits Kate very well. It has sleeves and a knot on the waist part. The green color is amazingly eye-catching. I like it very much.

Compared with the outfits Kate has worn in Canada, these three outfits look more formal and elegant. Wearing these three outfits Kate seems to look different from before. Do you agree with me?

Shoes to Step in for Spring/Summer 2011

Making the right choice is a must when you are faced with a glittering array of Spring/Summer shoes for 2011. Shoes are a crucial part other people will see on you. They can offer style, comfort as well as complete the look of an outfit. There are a variety of shoe styles to choose from as shoe trends change each season to suit the fashion trends. Well, not a single person can follow each of the trends. To make yourself chic doesn’t mean to do whatever the fashion magazines tell you to. Here I do have my own picks for Spring/Summer 2011, which I think not only look comfortable but manage to bring a breath of fresh through their designs and colors. When selecting shoes you should consider the style of your outfits the shoes will be completing and the advantages these shoes will provide.

This season the new trends shoes managed to pleasantly surprise as a variety of interesting styles have been featured on the fashion runway. Strappy high heel shoes are made for women who love wearing heels and showing off their great-looking legs. The heel gives the leg a fabulous posture which enhances the beauty and elegance, attracting attention. They are to go well with skirts, shorts, dresses and even long pants.

Platform sandals will not go out of fashion. They not only look fabulous but also contribute to a slimming effect but meanwhile offer great comfort. Lots of different platform shoes are there to choose from according to personal preference and style. Monochrome, multi-colored platform sandals and studded platforms are all on my list of favorites.

Vintage styles are still quite well received in this new season. Chunky heels as well as toe pumps are of great popularity.

Prada Spring 2011 Collection for Men

January 17th, 2011 Posted in Uncategorized Tags:

Miuccia Prada launched the spring 2011 collection for men in fashion city of Milan. In the setting of an industrial-like runway, the models presented the newest menswear collection, inspired by several types of uniforms. On the runway, blue is the most often seen color. And it seems that this time the designer wants to use up all kinds of blue colors, starting with baby blue and navy and ending with turquoise and electric blue. While apart from blue, you will also find some bright colors, like orange and green, here and there, but still, the designer uses something else to make a balance, such as neutral tones like beige and black.

Have a closer look and you can find some very interesting details in this simple-appearing collection: the boatnecks, the ties, the espadrille-like shoes. Aside from the classic business suit, which gives the models quite a smart look, shorts, hip bags and colorful hospital scrubs can also be seen on the show. These are innovatively combined in layers.

If you like do like colors, you’ll be so fond of these striped sweaters, which are so great for the colder spring evenings. And since the designer wanted to keep it simple, all clothes are made out of cotton. And what other fabric is simpler and more wearable that denim? Obviously, Prada’s collection for spring season 2011 does not say no to denim, and neither should you. Shorts, shirts – denim never goes out of fashion. And if it does, it will surely make a grand return soon after.

Prada Spring-Summer 2011 Collection

January 4th, 2011 Posted in Uncategorized Tags: ,

This is an interpretation of the Spring-Summer 2011 Womens Prada collection by the artist Shannon Stokes. Well, he is simply talented, with his entry for the SOS art contest. Shannon Stokes was inspired by the banana-print top that came down the runway he decided to depict a jungle scene with the damsel in distress, along with the gorilla’s fur in the same colour combo as the fox fur stoles. So if we should put this in one word, brilliant!

Another piece that has left a deep impression on me is now officially known as the ‘Eva Mendes dress’, which she rocked to perfection at a recent movie premiere. If you get the chance to see the dress in person, you will find that it is a beautiful piece except for the fact that the material used is rather stiff, all part of Miuccia Prada’s vision of giving women a fuller, more rounded figure.

As far as the bags are concerned, they all sport the ‘parrot beak’ in the form of the leather-covered buckle in the front, with twill canvas making up the rest of the body. In fact, the bags remind me somewhat of Louis Vuitton’s Antiguacollection which came out eons ago, and maybe it will take lots of persuasion to get me to part with that much money for these clutches.

While, this little satchel is too cute to resist. This darling comes with its own shoulder strap. Great for casual weekends out, I’m keen to see what other colour combinations it will be available in.

Another piece that is worth a quick mention is this larger satchel coming with its own shoulder strap as well. Big enough to fit a 13″ MacBook Pro in my opinion, it’s one of those pieces I’d like to have.

However, what I love most here will be the fox fur stole, which comes in a wide variety of colors off the runway, but also, they are rather costly.

Louis Vuitton Mens Pre-Spring Collection 2011

Apart from all those gorgeous items the fashion house has prepared for ladies for the new year to come, now it is time for some self-love, boys and check out the Pre-Spring 2011 Mens Louis Vuitton collection, which can also be considered as the mens’ counterpart to the womens’ Cruise collection. One that’s preppy, lightweight and built for travel, the collection packs several essential everyday pieces, from a linen two-button blazer to simple tees and rolled cuff pants.

On the bag front I especially fall for this Louis Vuitton Naxos Keepall 45, which comes in several different colors — Cedre, shown above, and Bleu Marine. Pricey yes, but given the fact that they are must-have travelling essentials and extremely lightweight, it is totally qualified to stay on my list of favorites.

Aside form all those above, a more affordable option would be the Louis Vuitton Damier Carbone Keepall 45 (which was previously covered here). It is just another masterpiece from the fashion house.

On the shoes and accessories front, it is pretty much business as usual (ie. safe as hell) but there are interesting pieces if you look at them closer enough. They include the new Monogram Flowers pattern as seen in ties and wraps, and the two pairs of shoes in the montage that I absolutely like so much.

And if there is one piece you really need to get for your loved ones, I strongly recommend to you this scarf with the new Monogram Cravate pattern, simple, elegant and understated.

Milan Fashion Week – Gucci Spring Season 2011

November 15th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized Tags: , ,

When asked where to find the latest fashion trend in the world, you will probably come up with some names of traditional fashion cities like Milan. The most famous designers gather here every season to display their brand new ideas and innovations.

This time the Milan Fashion Week kicked off with a burst of color this season, especially with Frida Giannini’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection for Gucci. Models glided down the catwalk with gorgeous, red pedicures, accented by sky high stilettos. And despite the seriousness of the slicked back hair, the collection this season was nothing but a bold display of colors.

The 70′s set the scene this season as jewel toned pieces made their way down the catwalk. Knee-length skirts paired with obi python belts and sexy low-cut tops flashed just the right amount of skin, leaving enough to the imagination.

Transitioning seamlessly from color to nude safari pieces didn’t seem too difficult a task for Giannini. Tassles were added for a bit of flair and a Morrocan-esque influence.

Who says black can’t be a spring color? When you have harem jumpsuits and fringed, embellished bodices as gorgeous as these, it would be difficult to turn either down.

The show closed with a few beautifully fringed dresses in bold colors and intricately detailed beading.

Giannini left all those shades of gray and minimalist silhouettes behind and offered us something vibrant and exciting to keep us on our toes. The collection has something for everyone, and each piece is nothing short of wearable. To sum up, the versatility and cohesiveness of this collection ultimately makes this season a success for Giannini. I’m definitely excited to see a few pieces on our fave celebs.

Hot and Fresh: Resort 2011 Collection of Louis Vuitton

November 5th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized Tags: ,

In this modern world, it is hard to ignore the pace of time. Apart from the information that come to you from all directions, you can also feel the pressure given by the world of fashion. The fashion trend always runs faster then the calender. And about this time every year, when New Year is still months away, all of the fashion brands just can not wait to unveil their brandnew ideas of designs for the next year.

Recently we see Louis Vuitton show the world its Resort 2011 collection. This time, Marc Jacobs, fashion designer behind giving curves to Louis Vuitton Resort 2011 collection, has certainly done a brilliant job again. Hanne Gaby Odiele and Ford’s Emily Senko figure prominently in this collection. Marc Jacobs has put in life in this collection. Unlike Calvin Klein 2011 Resort Collection and Donna Karan Resort 2011 Runway Show, that revealed neutral shades and masculine accents, this collection is truly feminine. Have a look at pics of this Louis Vuitton collection.

One could see ultra-feminine clothes, with prints of fruit vines and peonies and pastel colors in this collection. There were dresses in upholstery florals worked onto Ford’s Emily Senko, and nipped waists.

In Louis Vuitton Resort collection, there were louche glamor in cool striped silk blouses and solid suede jackets. Collection was a chic ease to the dresses, particularly butter yellow shorts suit with pale pink and green, keeping it feminine and pretty.

Models in Louis Vuitton collection were flaunting accessories like oversize chain necklaces, bold, floppy hats and leather driving gloves- all money in the bank for the brand. Other than that, there were bags which remind of Raffia Galliera from 2008. Overall, the collection was Ultra Feminine! Personally, I can feel the kind of clean and fresh beauty, which is so elegant and lassy. I’m sure they will certainly be sought after worldwide.

How to Dress Greatly for the Occasion

Ladies are always trying to make themselves stay good-looking and they care much about how they should dress properly and elegantly. Sometimes it is a tough task for ladies to achieve their ideal looks or stick with the ideal appearances.

To make it worse, the silly Christmas season just around the corner. Now I am sure that your pressure to find the perfect outfit is beginning to mount. An attempt to search for the ideal piece usually starts with potential options being flung every which way creating a ceiling high pile of rejected outfits, followed by the traditional mad dash to the shops resulting in an often regrettable spur of the moment purchase. The simple truth is occasion dressing isn’t as straightforward as it used to be.

Gone are the old days when there was always one simple look which seems almighty, for each aspect of your life – the 9 to 5 skirt and blouse ensemble, the little black dress for after hours and the velour tracksuit for relaxing in the weekend. Clothes were age specific – pink and pretty for little girls, sharp suits and a-line skirts for the young woman embarking on her career, and the granny dresses we’d never be caught dead in. While we may not all have the audacity to dress like Samantha from Sex and the City – times have changed and one outfit now seems to fit all ages. Dressing your age is no longer limiting, it’s all about dressing your body, your shape, your style and your attitude.

You must be striving for some guidelines on this aspect. Although things may alter among different persons, there indeed are a few tips and rules for you to follow especially when you are dressing yourself for a certain occasion.

You should start with sorting through anything that may be too tight or too short. Constantly tugging at garments which are ill fitting is not flattering. We’ve all experienced the dread of going up a dress size in a garment but just remember a good fit is much more important than the number on a label. Likewise, too much cleavage is not attractive. If you are trying to achieve a sexy evening look keep it simple and classy – think one shoulder dresses for a touch of sophisticated summer glamour.

Once you find the perfect fitting garment, stop and think whether the garment is really you. Keep in mind that wearing something which is just not you simply because it’s the latest fashion trend is not going to get you anywhere. Instead of trying to keep up with the forever changing world of fashion trends spend time working out the trends which work for you and the trends that you love.

Now you’ve got the right outfit for the occasion, your task has not yet finished actually. Make-up should be experimented with, make a mistake and a little make-up remover will give you a clean palette to start all over again with. Too much, in your face makeup though is definitely a thing of the past. Repeat the mantra ‘less is more’ and book time at your favorite beauty counter for a new, light color palette. At the end of the day the number one thing to remember is fashion and beauty should be fun, keeping these simple tips in mind will just help make things a whole lot easier.
